    I haven’t tried this myself, but I’ve seen a lot of it on Tumblr. I have a personal tumblr and a “thinspiration” blog as well. I currently am on a very low calorie diet and have done it before and its been awesome and has stayed off!

    Im currently on day two of this, and it seems easier than it is. Five hundred calories is actually a good bit of food if you eat healthy. The problem is, eating healthy is not very satisfying all the time. However, I weigh 132.4 now and I expect that this diet will put me at my UGW within the fifty days. Its worth it, as long as the weight doesn’t creep back on when the diet ends.

    If you keep doing it over and over you will just keep loosing, untill your body gets to a certain point where it can just about survive on that amount of calories :) it is a really good diet, I have been on it continuously and am now 5ft 5″ and 85lbs! And it doesn’t make you only loose water weight, that is just a silly idea, I did not loose 20lbs of just water <3

    heey(: I’m currently on day 5 of the abc diet and so far so good ! this is my second time doing it but last time I didn’t go on for to long cause I went on vacation and it ruined it . I lost about 10 pounds in two weeks with little to no excessize . just walking for like 30 minutes threw out the day and 500+ crunches a day . sometimes I didn’t do any . but yeah I restarted and my start weight was 135lbs 5’7″ and I’m 16. my goal weight is 110lbs at the moment but that will change . if you want to do it with me just email me ! even if you don’t read this tell next year , still email me (: I’m always up for it ! my email is …

    I’ve done this before and I’m currently doing it again. I’m only on the second day. I have to say, when it starts, it’s an awful lot of calories. You have to make sure to reach the daily goal (no less) and eating 500 on purpose seems odd. I usually stay under 400.. And you won’t gain it back. If you gorge on potato chips the day you finish, then yeah. Start at 200 calories. Then the next day eat 300 calories. Then 400 calories. And slowly add 100 calories until you reach a normal limit. But since it takes 28 days to build a habit, you’ll find that after the 50 days, you’ll get full at less than 1,000 calories without feeling anxious. Plain and Simple. I love this diet. There’s also the Skinny Girl Diet and the 2-4-6-8 Diet that are common in the ana world.

    The reason your body will “survive on that amount of calories” as Anaforever said is because it’s getting nutrition from other parts of your body. Your body has gone into a starvation mode and is starting to use muscles and organs to sustain itself. Sure, you’ll lose weight, but you’ll also put your health in serious jeopardy. I remember reading about a post-anorexic girl who had trouble walking up slightly-inclined driveways because her body had taken such a large toll on itself. There’s nothing sexy about that.

    Yes, you will regain all the weight you have lost when you do these kinds of diets. Part of “starvation mode” is that any food your body receives afterwards will immediately be stored in preparation for a future starvation, because your body assumes the only reason you’re not eating is because no food is available.

    The choice is yours. You can choose to do the ABC diet (or another similar low calorie/starvation diet) where the weight loss is only temporary and you risk permanently damaging your health, or you can choose to find healthier alternatives such as eating properly and exercising regularly. If you find yourself addicted to starving yourself or binging, I would strongly recommend you get help from a professional source. There are plenty of free resources available on the internet, all you have to do is look. Your body will love you for it and you will feel better about yourself.

    My theory.. the reason why some may gain weight after they finish the ABC diet is possibly due to having no self control once they start eating again, you’re mind and body crave the food you’ve been possibly eating for years on a daily basis. And once you stop doing this and start eating the same food again it’s more than likely you will binge, however i do believe as long as you keep eating healthy and keep active everyday you will maintain the weight and speed up your metabolism eventually. How could you gain all the weight unless YOU, yourself choose to. it’s a long process in doing but as long as YOU keep control of YOUR life, you’ll be fine. It’s a scientific fact that man itself can live without food for months, not water though. Just a reminder to you all, mind over matter.

    I completed this diet and lost about 30lbs. But upon ending, I did gain all the weight back and then some. I don’t recommend doing it unless you feel like yoyo dieting for the rest of your life.

    Lost 12lbs in the first week, alone, and then another 7 the second week, but after I binged and stopped, I plateaued, no matter what I did, and I’m still stuck there after several months. So, I’ll give it another go.

    I’m starting this tomorrow and I’m sooooooooooooooo excited! I can’t wait to shed a few pounds and maybe just keep going after I hit the 50 day mark!     I’m going to do this and then the skinny girl deit as too keep it off, I wont loose muscle and hurt my health enless I did this for a long period of time, I have A LOT of fat for my body to use up and burn, first water weight will go and when I contine for a little longer my fat will burn.     Really good and effective.I’ve lost A LOT.This is my second time on ABC.The first time (all 50 days) combined with every day exercise(2-4h)i’ve lost about 15kg,maybe more.Back than i was 45kg/167cm,so i was actually underweight,and had normal weight to begin with,so people who are overweight would probably lose 20+ kg during those 50 days.
    However,after this “diet” i’ve never been the same and developed an eating disorder.

    For those of you who are nervous about the calorie dips, ( 0-500 ) try this on a more manageable scale ( 1000-1500 ) and see if it works out for you. Variety in a diet is key to success. The formentioned scale may also prevent binge-eating for those of whom are not used to such a restricted diet. You could essentially do the 1000-1500 calorie scale for life seeing as it is well within the normal “dieting standard” and no one will catch on to your evil plan to stay within a healthy weight. I personally think that the ABC diet, if well planned meal scheduling is involved, can be effective and weight gain can be prevented by slowly introducing calories back into your everyday habbits. If you are an athlete or extremely active, I would never imagine using the 0-500 scale. I wouldn’t go lower than the 1000-1500 scale to prevent the body from consuming its own organs from an extended period of starvation. Also, please take a multi-vitamin on the days you cosume over 300 calories to make up for the nutrients you will obviously be lacking throughout this fasting period. Any lower than 300, and you won’t consume enough fats to break down the fat-soluable vitamins and it will make your nauseated and dizzy. Sleep is also important; tack on an extra half hour to your normal sleep schedule during the diet to allow the body more time to recover. This will prevent fainting and episodes of “moody-ness and irritability” that comes along with any dip in caloric intake. Hopefully this is helpful and solves some of those binge eating problems you guys are having.

    I will start this Monday, since I will be visiting my grandparents this weekend. If you eat healthy, following the diet and working out 3-5x a week, will you still gain all the weight back? And after you finished the diet, if you ad 50-100 calories everyday until you reach the suggested, keep on eating healthy and working out, will you still gain the weight back? SOMEONE ANSWER, PLEASE!     i did it on october for only two weeks and i lost 21 lbs. im doing it right now (im in the week 2) but i dont know how much weight i’ve lost so far, i hope i’ve had lost some…
    i think that i lost that much because i ate normally but burnt a looot of calories. now that im eating the right amount of calories and 0 workout i feel like im not losing weight at all :(

    I’m starting this tomorrow, i’ve tried to starve myself (like fast for DAYS on end) and I just gained it back again but never went over my original weight… and I ate like crap haha.
    I’m going to exercise everyday strictly, just the simple 5-4-3-2-1 workout 2 times a day and 3 times a day on high calorie intake days, then build back up to 1000 going up by 100′s and maybe do it again or the skinny girl diet.     My mother still doesn’t accept it, but I’m just doing it, she can’t stop me.

    I’m on week 2 Tuesday, I’m starting to feel bad effects (muscle cramping, tired). But maybe I’m just tired. Surprisingly I don’t get a whole lot of stomach growls. I have never tried this diet before, but I am determined to finish it! I am overweight by a lot, I think. My goal weight is 144-150 because I think that is proper for my body type and curves. The day I started I was 196. Female, 5’5.

    In the first week, I lost 10 pounds. And now I lost 2 so far. You just have to be consistent and keep with the workouts, diet plan, find different routines. And get plenty of rest and necessary water. I only workout on the 300 calorie and over days so I don’t pass out. And sometimes the fast days- at-home workouts so I can be safe, and so no one will see that I don’t feel so great. Because when there’s a fast day you want to keep up with other activities other than the food.

    I have strong will-power as my family is always getting fast food. here’s a tip, just smell it and pretend you ate it already. Nobody can stop you from your diet.

    After I accomplish my goal weight, because I really think this can work-I am still going to eat healthy foods, and when I’m just starting out I’m going to try one meal and progress from there. While still (newly) working out. Because it’s almost summer and I don’t want to be fat again.

    Good luck, ladies. It’s really easy if you think in your mind that you can do it every day. Just keep going so you can feel confident with your body.

    I wonder if I take vitamins while on his diet would it be better. I’m going to take prescription diet pills (prescribed to my mother) while on this diet that way my metabolism will not slow down and once I finish the diet I wont gain the weight back :) I really hope it works…

    Hey guys! Day 9 into this diet and I’ve lost 14 pounds! It’s so good and I get hardly any cravings after the first few days. I go to the gym or run every day so I guess that helps but it’s my first fast day tomorrow which I think will be okay.     Hey Izzy, fruit and veggies do count – if you want a diet where they don’t try the skinny girl diet. And yes, it would be 600. You may get you’re net down to 0 (that’s what I do as well) but your consumption is meant to be the amount on the day not what you achieve if you minus exercise.

    It does work, lost 14 pounds over two months, and also ate my usual lunch with the family on Sundays. I do feel alot healtier since I haven’t been stuffing my face with junk. The only exercise I do is taking my dog for a brisk walk every second day and some Playstation Fitness. I still have a few pounds to lose and will continue this way until I have reached my GW. I gained about 30 pounds over 4 years and I have finally made the decision to do something about it. So far so good.

    I started the abc-diet today and I feel great. I woke up at about 12 something, and at 1 something; rode my bike until 2 something. I ate an ice cream cone, only because my gums were still hurting from flossing, my teeth earlier, and that was it. I know I still need to eat more in order to reach the 500 calorie limit.     Just stumbled upon this diet after a friend informed me about it. The premise is good…at first. But this is basically the road to anorexia. Anorexia is a disease. You look at a skeleton, skin and bones, and see beauty, see that as a goal look. That’s not healthy. I hope anyone who sees this can take it into consideration and realize that eating so little can do serious damage to your body. Take the initiative and just take up regular exercising and a HEALTHY diet. Include more vegetables and fruits. Moderate what you eat but eat a healthy amount of it. And do some exercising. I saw a comment up there saying she was 5’5″ and 85 lbs. That is not healthy. 5’5″ isn’t that tall but at 85 lbs, she’d be so thin that you wouldn’t see her from a side angle. Just stay healthy and stay far away from this diet! I’ve already lost 7 lbs in a week by eating healthy and jogging every morning. It can be done the right way. Trust me.

    I did this diet back about two months ago and only lasted 18 days in before failing. During the 18 days I managed to lose about 14 pounds, but about 2-3 weeks after I failed on the diet my weight sky-rocked up 5 pounds heavier then I was before I started the diet. But now my weight is 15 pounds heavier then I was when I first started 2 months ago. I am willing to give this another go. Plus I am in a weight loss competition with a friend with money on the line at for each weeks winner. So it def gives me alottt more motivation to stick to the diet plan and lose weight. I am aiming to lose at least 25 pounds in general and hope this can help. And stay off afterwards !! :)

    first, to anyone reading these to see if it works, please don’t do it. you’ll cause more pain than anyone needs to go through: hair loss, depression, dry skin and hair, headaches, tooth decay if you throw up a lot, lack of energy, poor memory, slower thinking… basically, you’ll only end up regretting it, but you won’t be able to stop easily. it’s not worth it, especially when there are so many healthy ways to lose weight. plus, you’re already perfect the way you are. trust me.

    but this diet (along with any other pro-ed methods) is the reason why people die because they don’t feel like they’re skinny enough to be perfect. you know what? they’re beautiful the way they are, and you need to stop telling people that this is an okay way to live their lives. i understand that it’s a disease – my best friend suffered from both anorexia and bulimia – but there is no reason to encourage this. i hope you’re happy knowing how many people die because of diets like this.

    This diet will not work.
    Read ALL the comments here. How many are saying “I lost a ton of weight and I kept it off too and I feel great!”? None. How many are saying “I’m starting it again after failing” or “the weight came right back after I finished”. Almost all of them. You do the math.
    This is not a diet. It is an eating disorder. To lose weight you need to make a lifestyle change, not a 4 week change. And that change starts not on a scale or on a treadmill, but from your own self-confidence. Please talk to a nutritionist or a therapist.

    Well yes, this diet can be dangerous and I bet most people that do attempt it know that it is.
    Now, nothing you will say is going to make them change their minds. Then again I doubt that a “normal” person will be able to finish the 50 days, so you really don`t have to fret.

    Second, “going into starvation mode” is a myth. Unless your body fat percentage is very low, you won`t go into starvation mode. In fact, you won`t even lose any muscle.
    I used to be overweight, and I went on a very low calorie diet on several occasions, I actually came out feeling stronger(I exercised and had a total intake of about 300-600 calories per day). On my “cheat” days, I ate between 1500-1800 calories(my minimum intake per day should be 1600).

    If you`re really just a little bit chubby, there is no point to torture your body like this, especially if you see this as a quick fix. As soon as you start binging when the diet is over(which is what most people do) you will exceed your required caloric intake and gain a lot of weight back.
    Hitting a plateau just means that your body is stabilizing and not losing water, which is a good sign. Your body needs water after all. You will still be losing weight, only at a “slower” rate.

    And here`s another fun fact, anyone that undergoes a gastric bypass will be put on a severely low calorie diet after the procedure, you don`t see obese people passing out because of it, do you? “Starvation mode” is a phrase that is thrown around too easily. I repeat: unless you have a VERY low bodyfat percentage you will not go into starvation mode.

    If you`re only overweight, or a little bit on the chubby side, I`d recommend just starting to eat less calories(for the rest of your life, not just for 50 days).

    If you`re very overweight or obese, you still have to be careful, you need a lot of nutrients, and getting all your 500 calories from two chocolate bars is only going to make you severely malnourished if you even get through those 50 days.
    I`m not saying you have to live with only losing a pound a week, you can and will definitely lose more if you really are determined, just eat healthy. Having 2 pounds of salad each day(no dressings, toppings or meat) will only give you about 200-300 calories. Think about it. A pound of salad gives you more nutrients than a bowl of cereal, and you are more likely to not get sick if you do that.

    Right I did this diet in June. I lasted 40 days, then I’ve been currently keeping my cal intake below 600. I have gone from 8st 5 to 7st! I’ve kept the weight off, and I’m raising the cal intake slowly every week up to 1000 max. Once a week I have a day of 300 cals to help keep the weight off.
    I do admit this diet has sent me through hell and back, but ya worth it. Though you don’t have to believe me as I’m anorexic and bulimic.

    I started this diet today, but it’s really just an excuse to justify the fact that I’m not eating because I don’t have enough money to buy food. You know how much weight you lose eating oatmeal for 9 weeks? 17.1 lbs! Which is in the healthy range of 1-2 lbs per week, but I don’t exercise because I don’t have the energy (due to the low calories) and due to an imbalance in the fluid in my inner ear (the cochlea) I get dizzy too easily for it to be safe on such a restricted diet. But I do look forward to seeing what 1 packet of oatmeal per day compared to 8 does to me. I usually eat 2 per day. And drink lots of tea.

    Anyway, we’ll see how it goes.

    hey, I started and failed this diet twice in the last few months. I only ever got up to day 14 and lost 10lbs in that time (but I didn’t stick to it strictly and did no exercise). Both times I broke the diet with a binge and gradually gained the weight back over a month or so.

    I’m starting the ABC again as of tomorrow and I plan on doing the whole 50 days non stop with exercise every day to speed the weightloss.

    okay, so i’ve completed this diet before- around two months ago.
    i’m going to tell everyone right now that this diet is spectacular, but you CANNOT go back to your normal diet afterwards.
    i gained all my weight back- and then some. i’m back to doing this diet again, but this time when it’s over i’m still going to keep a 500-900 calorie diet for a few more months. i suggest you all do the same.
    don’t let that scare you though- this is the only diet i’ve found that is actually effective!

    p.s for best results, work out 4-5x a week. it makes sure that your motabilism doesn’t completely crash.

    After struggling with eating disorders for several years I can tell you the ABC diet is just an extremely dangerous practice that almost killed me. There is permanent damage to my body that causes me problems today. Please (if you feel you have to) don’t use this more then once.

    Okay people, FIRST OF ALL, your body WILL NOT eat it’s organs unless you’re severely underweight with no more fat/muscle. Do some research. After the first few days, your body foes into a state called “Ketosis” and starts to eat your muscle/fat. Do some yoga for 30-75 mins 4-6 times a week so you’ll still have a little muscle. If you happen to lose so much to where you become underweight, then STOP and slowly go back to your normal eating. Some people say that you gain all of you’re weight back when it’s over, but that won’t happen if you break it right. For example, for the first week, you eat a piece of fruit (NOT A BANANA) for breakfast, and a small salad for dinner. The next week, you eat a piece of fruit for breakfast, a piece of fruit for lunch, and a slightly larger salad for dinner. The third week, you eat a couple pieces of fruit for breakfast, a small salad for lunch, and a big salad for dinner. And for the next few weeks you slowly go back to your normal eating habits! I recommend not going over 1800 calories with normal exercise, so your metabolism gets super high. Good luck~

    Started this diet Monday! Went over a little on the first two days, but was perfect today! I don’t know if the calorie count is Net Calories (calories with the exercise deducted from them) or Just consumed calories ( calories you have eaten without the exercise deducted.)     Hi there, I’ve been reading blogs and having heard opinions from both sides of pro and against this diet, I’ve decided to still do it, but modify it a little. I do a lot of weights at the moment and starting to introduce cardio again after a long period of taking it out if my exercise routine. Doing exercise atleast 4 times a week I felt I should up the calories atleast 200 each day.
    I’ve lost a stone in the past year but being 5ft 1 and 130lbs. I still have 22lbs to loose and I’d love to loose that by Christmas! My Boyfriend loves me and my body but you can always tell when they wish you were thinner then you are, especially when he dosn’t look at you when your changing, and the only girls he ‘stares’ at are skinny girls. Not amazing for my self esteem but I love him.

Up to 1200- 1500 Calls a day! ABC is just to loose weight! It is called ‘bootcamp’ hello!!? Even the ‘healthy weigh-less ect gain weight after their diet! Because you don’t change the way you feel and treat food!!! Lifestyle and habits didn’t change. This diet just helps to kick start and loose fast and to change your food-obsessed mind and getting the right supplements will keep you healthy! Drink Vitamins- pre-natal vits and extra vit C, your omega fat 3&6 and Calcium is a must! And for skin- drink more water, and drink zinplex for ever! Food do not determine who you are! And if you hitting the gym- don’t worry. About those proteins! Eat boiled eggs! Tuna, ect ect! Low cal/GI prot shake. I adjusted the ABC to my daily activities.     Well, I’ve done this before but after a while, I got really scared. I don’t know about everyone else but this diet made me anorexic. And so I stopped half way, and I pretty much gained all the weight back, but I think after the diet you if you maintain a healthy eating style you should be fine. I would Reccomend a 1200 calorie based diet as a minimum, but don’t go anywhere over 1500 if you don’t wants to gain weight back, also remember to exercise daily but not obsessively to mantain your weight. This is all the advice I can give… I hope it helps !

    I started this diet yesterday. I know it was Thursday So I started at day 4.

    I found it quiet easy! I lost 1lb in a day!
    Today is a 400 cal day and I’ve had 397!
    As long as u eat a very low cal meal and then 2 moderate one sits easy! Also veggies are so helpful so are berries and very filling!

    Here’s my recipe for a MASSIVE BOWL OF SOUP (30 CAL)
    It wil help a lot! And is massive!

    Directions:

    Boil 2 cups of water in a pot.
    Add in veggie or chicken bouillon. (1-2tsp or cubes)
    Add in 1-2 cups of lettuce or cabbage.
    Add in chopped celery (1-2stalks)
    Add in your fave spices (I used garlic powder and pepper)
    Let simmer for about 5 mins
    Pour in to bowl and eat!

    (I used 1 of everything except 2 water and had a massive yummy filling bowl of soup!)

    I did the ABC diet for 29 days and lost 23lbs before my metabolism completely crapped out on me. NO, I did not gain it all back after that, but it did take awhile to right my body after the murder I put it through. My advice is to not do it more than 15 days, then slowly up your caloric intake to get back to what you normally eat.

    I’ve always struggled with my weight especially in childhood i was 150 in grade 5 but when i became ana in my teens i lost 45 lbs and never felt better. however, after i dropped out when i was 16 (bad choice to begin with), i got really into partying and didn’t watch my weight. now i’m almost 22 and I’ve gained that weight back and then some!     Hi, i am seventeen years old and live in Texas.I First heard about the Abc Diet at the begging of june, 2012. I was very discouraged to try it because of all the negative information i read about, but i decided to try it anyway since i was very over weight. I started the diet around the last days of the same month. I found a lot of thinspo online, which really helped since everyone i know was so negative about the diet. for the next 31 days i stuck through the diet and even lowered my calorie intake at times. I drank two to three gallons of water daily(depending on my activity) and ran 2 miles 3 to 5 times a week. I tryed spacing away my meals and didnt NOT eat afetr six. i found my metabolism increased, my skin cleared up, and i was more energetic. All the bad comments i read about the diet make me laugh. If you stick through it and push yourself you will find to have a success story like me! You do NOT need a thousand calories a day to live.. My begining weigh was 180 lbs. ( Yuck!!! i know :( .. ) and i am only 5’3. After 31 days i lost 45 lbs!!! now if you think youre going to get off the diet and start eating like a pig and stay fit, you are wrong..     i did this diet and managed to complete it, i lost 3.5 stone so it worked for me and i didn’t feel like i had any bad side effects really, just hungry but you get used to it and you dont feel hungry at all really after the first week. i never gained any of the weight back either like everyone said i would because once i finished the 50 days i didnt want to eat any junk food or stuff my face i never went over 600 a day and i was fine, i even lost another stone after the diet. good luck everyone i hope you achieve your goal.

    This is not a good diet to start, once you have finished you will have lost weight BUT, you will start to gain it back again by eating regularly.. When you restrict your body goes into starvation mode and your metabolism will slow down then, when you eat regularly, the body will keep all of the food you give it and turn it to fat. Same as starving.. Don’t do it, exercise and healthy eating is the best way to go..

    I don’t understand why anybody would help each other do such a thing. Especially those who do have an Eating Disorder. Why would you wish that upon anyone? This diet is extremely dangerous and not worth it. You will end up in the hospital, having to go through the refeeding process. It is not a fun experience trust me! Being anorexic is no fun and does do damage. 16 years old and I have nerve damage, and a pacemaker. Just think about it.

    when coming off the diet, slowly increase your intake by 100 calories per day until you are at your bmr. eat more on the days you work out. you’ll be fine and will not regain. good luck!

    I did the ABC diet a year ago. I finished it, I stuck to it strictly. I started out as 76kg, and finished at 64kg. I lost 12kg (26 pounds).
    It was tough, it was probably the most difficult diet ever. I decided to do it because I was experimenting with pro-ana diets as a quick fix, I soon got addicted and went from diet to diet. I soon became excellent at dieting, strict with calories and VERY determined so I knew I could do the ABC.

    Let me just say, although the weight loss was great, my health was not. By the end of the diet I was hospitalised, lost my menstruation cycle, and could not sleep. I collapsed twice on this diet, and by the second week was not able to sleep. my body was in full shock mode. It wasnt copying well, my heart was always racing, I felt drained of energy, yet I was determined to finish the diet till the very last day.

    the day I ended the diet I went back to eating normally because I wanted to re gain my period cycle. Even though I went back to eating normally, it took me three whole months to get my period back.

    It’s now been a year since I did that diet, and my body is still adjusting its self.

    this diet only screws up your metabolism, your organs and ruins the chances of fertility for the future.
    I do NOT recommend this.
    It’s easy to be sucked into this diet but honestly just be patient and stick to a healthy 800-1000 calories and you will see that the weight comes off just as nicely. be patient, do it the healthy way. Its worth waiting.

    I want to highlight that my BMI was in the healthy range and yet I still stopped having my period. Doctors determined it was the sudden drop in calories and my body didnt know how to cope so it just shut down.
    At the end of the diet I was so pale, and sickly looking.
    I honestly dont know why anyone would want to be a bag of bones and starve themselves. Im angry at my self for ever doing that diet.

    PLEASE do not do this diet, our lives are worth so much more than this.

    A big plate of broccoli has like 50 kcal and it makes you feel full.. So I think the trick is not eating chocolate nor bread & things like that.

    It’s Christmas time and If I can prove to myself that I can do this through Christmas I can do anything.

    This diet works. No doubt about it. After years of trying to shed an excess 10-20 pounds this diet defintely did it for me.I saw results immediately and people around me were astonished how quickly it came off. Even though there were a few fuck ups in the middle, and one in the end, I still lost 4 inches around my hips, and 3 around my waist. I have managed to keep it off, but fair warning, calorie counting, and staying under the 1000′s can be very addicting. After the ABC I still wanted to lose more, and made my own plan where none of the days are higher than 250. Im trying to regain a healthy relationship with food, but unfortunately I never had it in the first place. This diet will make you lose A LOT of that extra weight, it will make you realize that portion sizes are important, but be careful what you choose to do after! Good luck everybody

    well here I am again. this works that’s true but I don’t think u get wat can happen. I’ve lost a lot of weight. I started just with the diet but began eating less and less till hardly even a Apple. people noticed. the only time my friends would say something was when I ate. theyd flip out and be so happy. but it was so hard to eat in front of ppl bcuz I felt so fat. one day though I was going to my next class and passed out. that’s when I realized I couldn’t do this to myself. I had stopped all sports and got in trouble from my parents if I ran under a 8 minute mile. My dad would yell at me how stupid I was on the way to skool. it’s just not worth it. there’s other ways. I began eating some what normal and could start running freely. at first I gained a lil but now, I’ve lost more but am still healthy. some days r hard. very. but you don’t realize what Ana really is till u experience it and no one should put themselves around ppl who make them feel the need to. smile your beautiful.

    Found this diet a while back but decided im going to start from tomorrow.

    The only way to get what you want (a perfect body that doesn’t make you feel sick) is through calorie control and exercise. Using ABC and working out 5/6 a week doing various things- gym, zumba, kickboxing, yoga and pole dancing will hopefully help me attain my goals, get rid of all the bad things i have done to my body so i can start fresh.

    This is the best way to lose lots of weight relatively fast, and as long as when the 50 days are up you don’t go back to crazy eating and keep working out, I don’t see why you couldn’t maintain/lose more weight.

    I’ve not been happy with my body for such a long time but its me thats been abusing it, so its time to set it right.

    Ok so I’m on week 3 and on week two I binged for a weekend and gained back all the weight I lost, but then I went straight back on the diet starting at week 3 and I lost over 10 ponds in about one week. from 116 to 105 (current). But let me say this diet makes you feel horrible. Literally like you’re dying, you will black out when you stand up, get really grumpy and weak too.     hi guys anyone who is scared of the weight coming back. when you have finished the diet make sure you slowly get back into your normal eating pattern because otherwise you will gain weight. it should take aprox 3 weeks to get back into your normal eating pattern good luck. by the way this is actually from my friends personal experience I’m starting this diet on the 4th wish me luck(:

Just to give a little background on my diet history, I start with a low carb diet (first only at 20 carbs a day, then 0) but I ended up gaining!     I’m on day 4. I’ve lost 6 lbs already. I’m not pro ana, this is just a quick fix to get the weight off me. You don’t have to accept that you will gain the weight back once the diet ends, just find out your bmr and slowly work up to that number. It’s only 30 days; I doubt your metabolism will crash to the point where you’ll gain on 1200.

    Just a tip if you’re hungry drink looooots of fluids. Don’t just drink water, go for hot teas and iced teas as well. I love peppermint tea and green tea with lemon and ginseng. Also lipton has mango pineapple flavored mixes to drink cold. I’m loving grapefruit as 1 whole grapefruit has only around 70 calories and it’s 90% water. I don’t like vegetables but yesterday was a 300 calorie day which you know isn’t a lot of food! So I filled up on steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots with a wedge of laughing cow cheese on the side. It’s actually really good.

    I’m on day 10 of this; the fast day if you must know.
    I sort of screwed up the previous days; I only had 2 successful days out of those 9 others. However, I did manage to stay below 1200 for them.
    I don’t know where I am right now weight-wise, since I stopped weighing myself after my bout of binge eating disorder, though I estimate I’m about pitching the 130-something mark. My goal weight is 110. I estimate I’ll reach this by the end of the diet, though I’ll probably do a re-run of it a second time around to ensure a successful run-through.

    I have actually done this diet twice succesfully. I’m currently 15 and weigh 113 pounds. The first time did it I lost 40 pounds and the second time 30. I did little to no exercise. Sadly i ended up in the hospital twice. This is dangerous! So be careful!!! I’m looking to lose about 33 pounds this time, although this is a hard diet to finish, it pays off! Myth: One you stop the diet, you gain all the weight back plus more. Not true! For me anyway. I slowly returned to a 800 calorie a day diet and it went really well.
    Tip!: keep yourself occupied so you won’t get tempted to binge. Good luck guys.

    hey y’all!
    so, today is day 7 & let me tell you, I feel great! The majority of my meals include low cal veggies and TONS of green tea! I found that instead of blowing all of my daily calories on one meal, small portions of veggies keep my hunger pangs low. I haven’t binged yet, but day 5 is extremely hard. I try to do an hour of cardio to keep my net calories in the negatives. I typically only ate between 300-500 calories. So far, I’m down 6.7 pounds! Not too shabby. As far as after the fifty days, I plan to eat clean! No more processed foods. I’m also vegan and gluten free, so that’s a plus! Hope I helped!

    Hi all,
    I came across this diet a while back, but was afraid it is too restrictive. But then I did some study and decided this is the one for me!
    On day 1 today – yes it is difficult! And specially day 10-16 will be a little bit difficult since I’ll be traveling for work. But I have decided to give it a try.
    Here are the ground rules I’ve set for myself :
    1. 1. Consume 80% of the calorie limit from fruits / veggies – apples, cucumbers, carrots and cabbage ranking at #1

    2. Eat a boiled egg white for breakfast everyday. (17 calories!)

    3. Eat multi-vitamins and Calcium supplements daily.

    4. What the skin and hair lack from within, I’ll supplement them from outside. That means an oil massage for my hair and body and a deep moisturizer massage for my face everyday!

    5. I will drink water – in some form : plain, fruit flavored (just pieces of fruit kept in water overnight), green tea – every hour between 9.00 am to 7.00 pm

    I am 34, SAHM to a wonderful 6 YODS and currently at 180 lbs. My target is about 120 lbs. Not just with this diet, but the long term target!

I have had Anorexia/EDNOS depending on my weight at the moment for 14 years. Even I can rationally see this is in no way healthy and will totally screw up your metabolism in the long run. I wish I could go back and kick myself the first timeI skipped a meal or started one of many eating ddisordered behaviors. Ed’s are not a quick fix, are not glamorous in anyway. Deteriorating bones, low energy hairloss, risk of sudden cardiac arrest (no you do not have to be at a low weight), loss of friendships, social isolation, risk of passing it on to your impressionable 5 year old, insomnia, ridiculous hours spent at the gym, claiming medical disability bc you cannot keep a job, depression, anxiety , brain damage, kidney damage, or Liver or any and all organs. Even if you are healthy now it is a fast road to an ED. The most beautiful thing in the world is accepting yourself as you are and radiating that with co fidence. Sometimes allowing that mentality could alone lead to your weight stabilizing for your height and body type. Since we often use our bodies as reflections of our emotions and inner struggles. If you truly need a better diet because yours is not healthy seek out a registered dietician. Let them know you are struggling with body image as well. They can help you to eat more mindfully and to focus more on health rather than the reflection that will always be distorted to eyes unaccepting of ourselves.

    Day 10 so far, first fasting day and honestly I’m loving this diet. I always feel so.. Fresh, if that’s the right term.

    I have a shitty thyroid and nobody knew until recently, I went to a dietician when I was 150lbs for help on losing weight, he put me on 1000 calories a day and I thought it was weird because 1000 seems so much more than what I usually eat, and hey presto I went up 20lbs in 2 months, which put my starting weight at 70lbs, and that was when I was tested for my thyroid.

    I refuse to be one of those landwhale pieces of lazy crap who use their thyroid as an excuse for their disgustingness, so here I am.

    I can only weigh myself at a doctor’s office because I’m poor and don’t have scales, but I definitely have lost inches, a lot of inches. A pair of jeans that I used to have a pretty severe muffintop in are now loose on me, to the point where I’m considering a belt. And I’m grabbing less tummy every time I try <3

    My ugw is 135lbs, which I was at 16. I was picture perfect back then.

    I did this diet before and it worked. BUT! If you try it make sure that you consume protein and not only carbs, unless you will probably lose your hair. And your period. AND! Try not to binge after finishing this diet ’cause you can easily become bulimic or binge-eater. I recommend you to eat veggies, fruits, and meat (chicken breast).
    But if you feel pain, dizzy (especially pain in your chest) immediately stop doing this diet ’cause eating too small sections can make your heart bigger.

    So I’ve tried starting this diet a few times before but completely caved. But this time is different, I feel that I can actually go through with it. It doesn’t have to be as bad as some people are making it out to be. You can stay within the calorie limit so long as you eat healthy and exercise. You don’t have to eat a single bag of chips and be done for the day. I think if you go over the limit, you’ll be fine so long as you’re able to work it off. I can’t wait to start this diet again.

    i’ve done this diet, lost 34.5lbs. and I have kept it off for about 5 months now. when you get off of this diet you can’t just go right back to eating 1000+ cals. What you do is start off small. When you decide to go back to normal first start with 400cals then in a week go wil 450cals. then another week push it up to 500cals. and EXERCISE!!! can’t stress this enough… I am now on 1200 cals. a? day and feeling great..

    This girl did it 4 times, and nothing bad happened to her. No hair loss, no weight gained back, no bad side effects, no anorexia or any other eating disorder. So, it only depends on your body.     Hello everyone!
    Many of you have asked about the weight gain after diet like this. I haven’t done this particular diet but something pretty similar. And it is working. Men, it’s taking that weight off of you fast. To the point where it’s addicting… i had anorexia. But my family and others forbid me to exercise and forced to eat. Well, not too bad cuz otherwise I’d die but now i look in the mirror and I hate myself bc i turned into comfort eating then bulimia. SO! You’ve got to be very careful after that 50 days cyz your metabolism works slower and if you eat fatty it will store it ALL cuz it’ll think “wow, finally something. Let’s store it all in case we won’t get any calories again”. Your body tries to protect itself from starving. By storing fat unfortunately.
    Anyways. I’m looking for something that would help me get my pretty skinny body back! If any of you is interested in keeping up with me on that i can offer some more advices from my own experience. Always nicer when you have support, isn’t it? ;)

    Okay. I had an earlier post. June 14th. This is an update. At that time I was 217 lbs. (?) Now on day 26 of the AbC Diet I am……194 lbs.!!! Yeah! Go Me!!! Okay sorry just really love this diet! 23 pounds gone!
    It was really hard and am not going to lie, I had 4 days were I binged like crazy. (Over 1,500 calories)On the days I binged I felt like a big fat failure!!! So I would exercise like mad. And I think that help. Also since it made me feel so bad to binge (plus I HATE exercising) it made me try harder to stay with the allowed calorie intake for the day.
    Tips to keep it from family;
    I’ve only been on the ABC Diet for 26 days and I found it easy to keep from my family. First of all I told them I was going on a diet. Not the extent of the diet, just a diet. I told them that I wouldn’t be eating with because this diet is really important me ( make up an excuse like you want to be able to go shopping with friends or be able to fit in a dress or something) and I don’t want the food they eat to tempt me. Then while they are eating (they are not paying attention) go into the kitchen and get something and take it to my room. I eat some of it if it’s in my calorie limit but if it’s not I give it to my dog. (My dog has gained weigh. I laugh because my family is wondering how.) And I do the same in the morning I wait till they are eating or done eating (my mom is in the shower) to get breakfast. And lunch same thing.
    And those of you who are worried about 100 calorie days, I have Cheerios.(plain regular)
    ¼ of a cup for breakfast = 25 calories 8am
    ¼ of a cup for lunch= 25 calories 12pm
    ½ of a cup for dinner= 50 calories 5pm TOTAL = 100 calories!

    I’ve decided to try this starting 1st August. I’m a little over 5 ft 5″ and currently weigh 100 (down from 112 through near starvation and laxatives, which I don’t want to use any more). My goal weight is around 91 pounds. From what I am seeing on this thread, that sounds a little low, but I’m happier that way, and for me personally, this is more about getting some self control back into my life – and finding ways to slim down my legs, which are out of proportion to the rest of my body. Just one question, do fasting days mean that you can only drink water throughout? I will miss my cups of tea with a little soya milk!

    This diet definitely works. No doubt about it, but if you are the type of person that won’t stick to something if it gets too hard, then don’t try it. Also, if you are the type that will do something for a certain amount of time and then give in and go crazy, eating everything in sight, don’t try it.
    I’ve done this diet before, but half way through I stop sticking to the calories and just pick at little bits of food.
    I’ve lost about 22lbs and my body has changed shape drastically since starting at the gym about a month ago. I go every single day and love it, I hardly stick to the diet now and my weight stays the same no matter what I eat, as long as I work out.
    However, I want to start losing weight again, I currently weigh 138lbs and would like to weigh 118 at some point. I’m going to start this diet again and continue going to the gym every day and I hope to weigh around 132 by the end of the first 10 days. I will re-post then to let everyone know how it went.
    Good luck to everyone trying this. I highly recommend this diet, but be safe and recognise when things get out of control. As long as you’re sensible and know your limits, you should be fine.

    The reality of this diet is that you WILL gain all of the weight back as soon as you go back to eating normal levels or food. Your body wasn’t built to run on 500 or less calories per day and there’s no way to change that. After maybe a week or two on this diet you will have almost no energy and you’ll lose muscle, not fat. Your body will conserve fat to conserve energy.

    It doesn’t matter how much you hate exercise, you need to be active to lose weight healthily. Even if you don’t exercise at all you should be eating absolutely no less than 1200 calories every day.

    This “diet” is a quick fix to a problem that will resurface and a quick trip to yo-yo dieting.

    I just started the ABC diet four days ago (on Monday) and so far so good. I went over on Tuesday, gah, 400 extra calories, but I plan on burning those throughout the rest of the week. I have been eating more than the “recommended” amount of calories because I work out so my net amount of calories is below the calorie limit. For example, yesterday I ate 600 calories but worked out and burned 450 so my total was 150/300. I feel like this is safer than restricting myself so much. Stats: 17, 5’3″, 117.5 lbs. Goal Weight: 100 lbs. Hopefully, I can loose it all! By the way, I’ve been drinking 2-3 cups of green tea a day in order to keep my metabolism going. Good luck to everyone trying the diet <3

    I’ve sucessfully completed the abc diet in 2011 and lost 12kg in 7 weeks. I never had a better body. Everyone complimented me.
    It took me 1,5 years of normal eating (and i mean plus binging every now and then, etc.)
    to gain 7 kg of the 12 ive lost back.

    I did not gain the weight back easily, like some here say. I actually changed to the same diet as before and it took me 1,5 years for 7 kgs..

    Now I start the abc again next monday. This time i want to switch to a more healthier diet after abc. abc was a good start into a healthier diet for me. There are many foods I avoid since my first abc diet. chocolate for example. meat.

    I love the abc. but its very hard..

I was really wary of this diet, so many mixed reviews but I wanted a challenge, and seeing as I had eaten 500 calories for the past 2 days figured I may as well unofficially try it for around 2 weeks.     so, I was at 120… then I binged AGAIN, and went back up to 125. I then restricted to 500 calories for two days and went to 123. Then I started fasting and I am on fasting day 3 and I went from 123 all the way down to 118.5, so that is a little over 4 pounds in 3 days! Hopefully I can keep this water fast going. :)

    The abc diet rules. It is the most difficult thing ever, but it’s the most effective, do it for long enough, and you don’t even feel like you’re dieting, it becomes a way of life.
    I want to lose 20lbs altogether which I know is easily done on a diet like this.
    Remember fellow dieters, the most important ingredient in any diet is WILL POWER.

    There’s no way you can do this diet and not lose weight, so it’s up to you!

    I have been doing something kind of like this diet already(eating only a bit a day, and staying around500-800 calories) and I have already went from 151-147.2lbs.     I realize that I’m probably the largest person posting on this site, but I wanted to share with you anyways. I started out at 356lbs at 6ft even. I struggle with a disease state and hormonal inbalance that makes it so easy to gain but almost impossible to lose. Initially my doc put me on a diet of 1100 cal a day, only 400 less than what I normally eat. I saw her two weeks later and she berated me for not losing enough so she lowered me to 800 cal a day. Again, no big deal. I saw her again in another two weeks and again she gave me shit for not losing enough. I showed her my food journal and she said that I was obviously lying and cheating my diet. She lectured me on honesty and how if I didn’t want to help mysel, then she wouldn’t either. So I said to hell with it. I researched a ton of diets and came apon the ABC. So far I have lost 56 lbs. I love this diet. My doctor is finally happy with me even though I have to lie to her about what I’m doing. I realize I will never be thin, but maybe I will eventually be healthy. This diet has been a god send and I would recomend it to anyone!

    The diet is ok but nobody has done the 50 days like ever! Yes it works but when your body says feed me, do as it asks. You will kick start the metabolism.
    I may even suggest treating yourself to a chocolate on a tough day as the sugar works wonders for the digestive system. Plus its so tasty so its a win.

    When i first started i weight 260lbs ( suddenly 190 doesnt seem so bad) ive come very far. And i love this diet. Im kicking it up a bit and fasting every other day. So say day 1 is 500 cal.     The calories are extremely low, the nutrition is good, includes vitamins and minerals. no added sugar, no salt.

    I sit in the hospital after admitting a teenager suffering from depression and anxiety who is trying to follow this diet. This is the dumbest diet I have ever read about. This is the reason that anorexia exists because of stupid people like Ana who feel the need to spread this disease around the world. Eating disorders do not exist in third world countries where food scarcity is common, but only in nations “of plenty.” Instead of focusing so much time and energy on calorie deprivation, how about these people find help for their unlying mental health issues.

    I’m about to start the abc today, and I think it’s going to take some major discipline. I think I’m going to modify this a little by starting at a slightly higher calorie intake so I can be successful and so people won’t notice. I know that kind of goes against the abc diet, but I want to be successful and still lose the weight (17 lbs in 34 days). Best of luck to everyone with their goals :-D

    I am currently on my 2nd week of ths diet and I have found that I am not getting the results I want. I googled some other options to lose weight and it said that dieting was not the ideal way… Maybe i should exercise and eat healthy? I’m so lost and confused, I don’t know if I should continue on with this diet.

    I lost 10 pounds on my own after my parents got a divorce, but it was taking too long. Luckily for me, I happened to stumble upon this while searching for thinsporation. :D

    For a petite(5ft) 15 year old, I hated when my thighs touched, but after a week of the ABC diet(aka, Ana Boot Camp), plenty of cardio, and a few pills to help me along, i’ve lost 10 more pounds. Now 93lbs; almost my UGW. (^_^)

    I would recommend this starvation/fad/pro-ana(Anorexia Nervosa) diet to anyone who knows the risks; willing to have dizzy spells to the point you faint, feel constantly nauseated/cold, and visual black outs. (You might even grow fuzzy everywhere! It’s your body trying to keep you warm by growing more hair. XD)

    Can’t sleep so I might as well throw in a few tips….

    • Drink loads of water or chew ice chips.
    • Paint your nails so people don’t notice if they turn blue.
    • Wear baggy clothing to hide rapid weight loss.
    • Do not eat 3 hours before sleep(Being hungry when trying to sleep is dissatisfying, I know! – but when you wake up you seriously feel skinnier.)
    • Before you eat, do something you dislike. Taking a shot of apple cider vinegar, for example, would help associate food with a negative experience.
    • Eat in front of the mirror while showing as much skin as possible.
    • Write down your CW on a hand, and your GW on the other.
    • Carry a paper with you listing the reasons you want to be skinny to remember that food can’t control you. Don’t let what you want now stop you from what you want most hun! (:

    I started this diet on the 10th May 2014, after eating 1000 cals per day for 1 week to help me ease into low calorie. I am currently on Day 6 of abc and have lost a total of 14lbs since the 2nd May 2014. I would highly recommend doing a practice week first if you are not used to low calorie or have binge eating problems. People have started to notice my weight loss, and I have been keeping track of what I have been eating and also any side effects I personally have experienced. I’m sure no-one wants to here what I ate, but I will just list the side effects that I have experienced so far here below:

    Cramps, extreme and long-lasting hunger, cravings, tiredness, dizziness and dizzy spells, feeling very depressed and teary, cold, mild tremor in my hands on some days (perhaps due to low electrolytes?), fainting and feeling faint, physical exhaustion, general feeling of being unwell, legs gave way once, low blood pressure, more fainting, feeling physically quite weak and ill.
    I expect more side effects to come but will write them down as I get them to try and help other people know what to expect. You get used to the hunger and stuff after a couple days, I think I just feel like absolute shit in the mornings because I have been going to bed hungry most days. Good luck everyone, will keep you updated on my progress X

    I’m barely going to start today with one of my best friends who introduced me to Ana. She has done it before she said you lose 10 pounds a week if you run or walk for a few minutes.

    I tried this diet. Wanna know where I ended up? In the hospital with a feeding tube up my nose. Let me tell you that you will NEVER lose enough weight. You say you have a “goal weight”….you won’t be satisfied when you get there. You will just want to keep losing more and more and more….you will NEVER be satisfied with the number on the scale….EVER.     Okay, it didn’t work last time. But that’s probably to do with the fact that in the past few months I’ve had SO much going on. I’ve finished my exams and am settled in a new home now so I’m ready :) I’ve also started going to the gym and since I’ve been happier, my comfort eating has got much better.

    I got my braces tightened 2 days ago so I haven’t really got the choice to eat anyway as my mouth is so sore, so just eating low calorie soups and baby food, but will be eating mainly salad once I can :)

    I am on day 10 of this diet and have already lost 10 pounds. I havn’t completley followed the calories exactly on some day, going over, but I’ve still lost a lot of weight! I’m planning to follow through for the rest of the days, hopefully by september I can lose a total of 30 pounds!
    The first few days are the hardest, because your body isn’t use to the low calorie intake. But after that, it’s much easier, because not only do you become more motivated, but your stomach will get use to it, and become full if you take in only 1000 calories.
    I recomend that before deciding to do this diet, you go online to find a healthy weight converter. You will have to state yourage, height, and whether you’re a male or female. Don’t do this diet unless you’re overweight. It is extremley unhealthy and the risks are riskier. When you are at a healthyweight, stop this diet and SLOWLY go back to a slightly more normal diet. Do a few days 500, then 600, then 700. And the more calories you add, the longer amount of days you should spend on it. Stop at about 1500. Eat healthy and do excersise to keep it off.
    If you really can’t stand the low calories intake, add 200 or 300 calories to it, you will still lose weight and it will also be healthier. So instead of the first days being 500 and 500, you could have 800 and 800 etc.
    For any athletes out there (like me), ai was extremley scares to start this diet, I was afraid of losing muscle and skill. Take vitamins daily, they will help your body get the nutrients it does’t get. Also, keeep working out! This way, your body will be forced to keep muscle and lose weight i stead of losing them both. After a low calorie in take, this will be extremley hard to do, you’ll have to take it slow and get extra hours of sleep.

    This diet is a joke no offense to anyone and everyone who is doing this diet. But you cannot seriously think that eating 200calories a day is the way to go to lose stubborn fat off of your body. Ladies you get one body and one body only take care of it. Treat your body like a temple only allow the good foods to go in there nothing proofreader fatty. If you do this y Liu will lose your natural beauty. Your skin will get all icky and saggy, you won’t have a toned body, you’ll have icky stringy hair, overall you won’t feel happy about blogs because you’ll dread to eat anything since you think about that 5 pounds you want to lose. I mean its your choice do what you want to do. I at one point in my life was 170 then within in 2 years of dedication I dropped down to 125. I was toned fit happy and ate 6 to 8 times a day. People question h owbi did it all I did was work out. Cut out all processed foods. Put it this way if you can’t kill it, pick it, grow it, milk it DONT EAR IT.simple as that.
